Southern Wesleyan University (SWU) is looking for a Student Accounts Representative to join our student services team.
The Student Accounts Representative is responsible for supporting student account maintenance and performing billing activities to ensure accounts receivable levels are processed in accordance with established university policies.
The representative processes all forms of disbursements, cash receipts, and refunds in accordance with state/federal regulations and university policy.
Responsibilities:
Leads and executes the collection process for students after withdrawal, while adhering to federal and state laws dealing with debt collection.
Approves payment arrangements on delinquent accounts.
Manages records at all stages within the collection process, performing regular audits to ensure accuracy.
Reconciles aging levels monthly.
Manages the billing and collection of payments for students using third party agreements.
Prepares invoices to third party agencies for tuition and fees.
Responds to financial inquiries of prospective and currently enrolled students.
Advises students regarding their payment options and financial responsibilities.
Accepts and processes payments from all students, ensuring timely follow up of cash receipts, payment promises, and any requested student account information.
Processes forms related to student status changes in accordance with university policies and procedures (e.
g.
, grade change, federal recalculations, appeals, etc.
).
Corresponds with various departments and areas on campus each day to resolve student concerns, clearances, and questions.
Maintains student accounts in compliance with established university policies and federal regulations.
Processes student refunds in a timely manner consistent with federal regulations set in place.
Other duties, as assigned, by the Director of Student Accounts.
Qualifications:
SWU is a Christian liberal arts institution in the Wesleyan-Holiness theological tradition.

Bachelor's degree preferred.
One to three years of experience in an accounting-related environment and one to years' experience in a customer service-related environment are required.
Will consider an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must have excellent oral and written communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills to ensure the appropriate flow of information, collaborative efforts, and feedback.
Ability to work well with others in a constructive and positive manner; must be a team player and a self-starter; flexible; able to follow through on projects; ability to analyze data and provide recommendations.
Ability to effectively organize and establish priorities, while coping with constant interruptions.
Ability to perform routine math functions accurately and efficiently.
Confidentiality, integrity, and discretion are essential.
Familiarity with student loan programs preferred.

The ideal candidate will be familiar with integrated database management systems, including reporting, and have a high comfort level with web-based, mobile and PC applications including but not limited to the use of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
